The world of aesthetics is full of myths and misinformation, and the popular microneedling procedure is one that’s often misunderstood. Well, our aesthetic clinic here in Suffolk is ready to break down, debunk and put pay to the rumour mill and lay out the facts – so you can make an informed choice about whether treatment is right for you.

Myth 1: microneedling hurts

As skin experts, we know that pain is subjective, and not everyone has the same threshold. Having said that, we want our clients to feel at home in our aesthetics clinic and aim for as relaxing and comfortable an experience as possible. The microneedling device used – the industry-leading SkinPen – is known for its tiny needles, and it can be used with a numbing agent for extra comfort. In addition, most clients only report the sensation of the device vibrating, rather than any needle pricks. At any rate, if you’re considering microneedling for a beauty treatment, it’s far less painful than a surgical procedure.

When it comes to INTRAcel Pro RF in Suffolk, patients have reported it as a ‘prickly feeling’, but nothing painful. We also use a strong topical anaesthetic beforehand to numb any additional pains.

Myth 2: Microneedling is just a beauty treatment

The whole premise behind SkinPen and other microneedling treatments is that, through making tiny punctures in the skin, the natural healing response is triggered – which forms new collagen and elastin. While this has anti-ageing benefits such as improving the appearance of wrinkles and pores, the lifting and tightening action can also refine scars and boost wound healing.

Myth 3: microneedling is risky

Most aesthetic treatments are quite low-risk, and microneedling is no exception, requiring no downtime, and usually only leading to mild redness or inflammation. However, infection is always a possibility, which is why we offer expert aftercare advice.

If you opt for INTRAcel Pro RF microneedling, Rebecca will advise you on how to look your best, and remind you to avoid the sun, stay hydrated, avoid hot showers, and try to avoid making direct physical contact with the treated skin.

Fact 1: The process is easy

Not only can the process be over in as little as 20 minutes, but there’s little in the way of side effects, and no downtime expected. You will, however, need to wear sun protection on your skin afterwards.

Fact 2: Microneedling is lasting

The treatment may not be as permanent as other options (for example, using dermal fillers to target wrinkles), but the results can last up to 6 months. It’s also a great anti-ageing alternative for those who don’t want anything injected into their skin.

Fact 3: A consultation is essential

100%. This is true with any aesthetic treatment. So, if you’re interested in microneedling here in Suffolk, why not get in touch with our aesthetic clinic today?
