Stretch mark reduction treatment

Stretch mark resurfacing treatment will restore a more even skin tone and texture to affected areas. The red, purple or silvery lines left behind when skin tears due to sudden growth are known as stretch marks. They occur most commonly during puberty, pregnancy, and when you gain weight rapidly. Red at first, they then fade to form an unsightly patchwork of silver lines. The good news is you don’t have to live with them.

Our Newmarket aesthetic clinic offers two methods to combat stretch marks. SkinPen is a handheld microneedling device used to alert the body’s natural repair system to your stretch mark damaged skin. It signals your body to create fresh new skin tissue in order to repair itself. This is best suited to new stretch marks that are still red. For more severe or older stretch marks that have faded to silvery tone, we use the Venus Viva device which uses radio-frequency technology to encourage the skin to create new skin tissue, and promotes resurfacing.

Both skinpen and venus viva take 45-60 minutes. Obviously the treatment time depends on the amount of skin area to be covered. 20 minutes of treatment time is taken to numb the skin in preparation.

Allow 24 hours of downtime for SkinPen, while Venus Viva requires 48 hours.

Venus Viva results last for 12-18 months. As for SkinPen results, they depend on the number of treatment sessions you have. Rebecca will be able to advise you during your consultation.

During a microneedling SkinPen procedure, your body will receive several small painless punctures in order to stimulate growth factors. The Venus Viva device will emit radio frequency waves to achieve the same effect.

There is a risk of minor side effects with both treatments. Redness and skin sensitivity with the Venus Viva, and swelling and bruising with the SkinPen.

  • The Venus Viva’s radio-frequency energy stimulates collagen that will resurface your skin. Following treatment, your stretch marks should be greatly reduced, if not eliminated completely.

  • For optimal results, our Newmarket experts will need to assess your stretch marks. However, the typical course of treatment might include 3 or 4 sessions, every 4 to 6 weeks.

  • It depends on where your stretch marks are, and the nature of them. Generally the Venus Viva radio-frequency device treats larger surface areas than SkinPen. Your practitioner will be able to give you advice tailored to your individual situation, when you visit us for your consultation.

  • The Venus Viva is used for skin tightening as well as resurfacing. Not only will your stretch marks be reduced, but you should also have fresher, tighter, lifted skin in the treated area.

  • This handheld microneedling device has thousands of minute needles at its tip, which vibrate to make punctures in the skin. The body is then alerted to the new ‘wounds’ which have been created. This induces fresh collagen production and skin repair.

  • With both methods of stretch mark removal, you can expect to see visible results 4 to 6 weeks after your first session.
